Richard Rothman
Senior Commercial Officer,

Richard Rothman began his assignment as Commercial Counselor with the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 8, 2005. Mr. Rothman's previous assignments have included Mumbai, India as Principal Commercial Officer; Jakarta, Indonesia as Trade Promotion Officer; and Milan, Italy as Deputy Director of the U.S. Trade Center.

While serving in Mumbai, Mr. Rothman and his team were nominated for the Commerce Department’s Gold Medal Award for having led the world in Export Success Stories for two years. While serving in Jakarta, the Business Development Team that Mr. Rothman supervised won a Bronze Medal Award. Mr. Rothman also received the Director General’s Award for Innovation for his creation of the Interactive Marketing System and a branded membership program for Indonesian companies.

Prior to joining the Commercial Service, Mr. Rothman worked for several years as a Brand Manager with the Special Products division of Price Pfister, Inc., a division of Black & Decker Corp. In addition, Mr. Rothman has taught marketing at Graham School of Management (Milan), and the Indonesian Institute of Management (Jakarta).

Mr. Rothman holds a MIM (Master of International Management) degree from Thunderbird, an MBA from California State University, Northridge, and a BA from Bates College.

He is accompanied by his wife Tabu, a native of Mumbai, and by eleven-year-old son Nicholas.
