Valerie Folkes
Professor of Marketing, USC Associates Chair in Business,
Administration and Vice Dean of Academic Programs,
USC Marshall School of Business

Valerie S. Folkes is professor of marketing, USC Associates Chair in Business Administration, and Vice Dean of Academic Programs at Marshall. She earned her PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests focus on consumer decision making, and in particular, customer satisfaction with products and services. Current research examines consumers' responses to negative information, and consumer's generalizations from experience with a service provider. Her article with former doctoral student Shashi Matta received the Best Article on Services Award for 2005, from the American Marketing Association Services SIG.

Professor Folkes has been selected as a Fellow of the Consumer Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association. She was elected President of the Association for Consumer Research for 2001 and was elected Treasurer of the Association for Consumer Research for 1990.

She served as the President of the Policy Board of the Journal of Consumer Research from 1994 - 1998, and served as Vice President in 1993. She serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Consumer Research. Professor Folkes received the Mellon Mentoring Award in 2006.
