Dan Fineman is a senior financial analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Dan has spent thirteen years working and studying in Asia. For five years, he was an equities analyst in Thailand, and for three years he worked in Hong Kong and Singapore as JP Morgan’s Asia-Pacific Equities Strategist. As Strategist, he oversaw JP Morgan analysts in twelve Asia-Pacific countries. Dan authored a book on Thailand-U.S. relations and, previous to joining the San Francisco Fed, contributed a twice-monthly column on Asian economic and financial affairs for the Far Eastern Economic Review. His writings have been translated into three languages and have appeared in leading financial publications in Japan, China and other Asian countries. In June 2005, Dan joined the San Francisco Fed, where he focuses on Asian banks and capital markets. He holds a Ph.D. in Southeast Asian history from Yale, Masters degrees from Yale and the London School of Economics, and a Bachelors degree from Duke.
