Helen Hwang serves as the Chief of the Commercial Section of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT). AIT's Commercial Section has two offices in Taipei and Kaohsiung that assist Taiwan and U.S. companies find business partners and promote U.S. exports to Taiwan.

With nearly twenty years of experience with the U.S. Department of Commerce, Ms. Hwang has served in several postings that include Seoul, London, Richmond and Washington D.C. Ms. Hwang served two non-consecutive tours in Korea as a Commercial Attache, then as the Deputy Senior Commercial Officer. At the American Embassy in London, she served as a Commercial Attache, Director of the International Marketing Center, and Showcase Europe Travel and Tourism Coordinator. While in Richmond, Virginia, Ms. Hwang served in the U.S. Department of Commerce's U.S. Export Assistance Center as the Office Director. In headquarters in Washington, D.C., Ms. Hwang served as a Desk Officer in the Office of Latin America.

Ms. Hwang earned a B.A. degree in Economics and an M.A. degree in Foreign Affairs, both from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
